New Jungle Book movie brings feelings of nostalgia
More stories from Nick Arnold
Every person has experienced that nostalgic feeling of watching a movie or listening to a song that reminds them of their childhood. This is the feeling the new movie “The Jungle Book” brings to those who saw the first version.
The original “The Jungle Book” came out in 1967 and became a household movie name for children. It follows the story of a child named Mowgli, who was found as a baby by a panther named Bagheera and taken to be raised by a pack of wolves. This plot was unique in its time and has become such a memorable movie that it was remade in 2016.
The remake made this year has followed a recent movement in the film industry of taking old movies or TV shows and filming a live action version of them. Some examples of this are “The Smurfs” and “Jurassic World.” The new movie combines the live action component in the character of Mowgli with the rest of the environment which is computer generated imagery or CGI.
The new movie did a very impressive job of combining these two element, to create a movie that is great by society’s standards. This was shown by the movie getting a rating of 94 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.0 out of 10 on IMDb. This movie was well received by all audiences and for good reason.
The movie added something by having dramatic scenes that, when combined with the excellent cinematography and CGI, created an entirely new experience for the audience. Not only did the movie create a new experience through the scenery, it also brought together an amazing cast of stars. This cast included Neel Sethi, Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Bill Murray and others.
“The Jungle Book” was overall a good movie that kept true to the original story, while also providing some new aspects to the old story. This is a movie that people could watch over and over and always see something new or different. I would recommend that everyone see “The Jungle Book” even if they have not seen the original. The original movie does bring that nostalgic feeling, but the new movie is good enough to be able to stand alone.
