Bob Dylan: Never Ending Tour

With music as a top priority, seeing all the living legends perform is an ongoing pursuit at the top of my bucket list. Huntsville is forever expanding and that obviously only means one thing — musicians actually know our small town exists.

Recently I had the honor of seeing Bob Dylan perform his Never Ending Tour at the Von Braun Center. The tour’s name is seemingly ironic because he is still up and rolling at 75 years of age. This has little to no effect on the outcome of his show or his career’s reputation though. In fact, he has recently been awarded a Nobel Prize in literature that he has yet to accept in person.

He played two and half hours worth of pure magic. Up and down he went, constantly switching from front and center microphone to the piano on the side of the stage each set. At one point he even pulled out his iconic harmonica and, I swear, the whole room grew completely silent.

The only downfalls that I can possibly pull out of my butt are the fact that photography of any sort was not allowed, I forgot my binoculars and only about 45 percent of what he sang was coherent, being that he is aging and even at his peak he was still hard to understand.

Overall, the experience could not compare to Bonnaroo or any other concert I have seen and I have seen Dead & Company, Amos Lee, Mumford & Sons and so on. If there is ever a possibility that he has not had a heart attack yet and tours through Huntsville again, I recommend everyone with the money should definitely give up a Saturday night to go watch history take place.
