At the beginning of February a new series was released on Amazon Prime called Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The new series is an adaptation of the 2005 movie starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

In this new series, the main characters are hired spies for an unknown organization and they have to function as husband and wife. After a few missions they fall for each other, so they have to navigate relationship problems and the dangers of their job. 

This movie was more of a drama with a hint of comedy and action. It showed all the issues normal couples go into. Since they went from strangers to lovers they had to learn each other on the spot. Jane in the show lacks a lot of emotion. She thinks she is smarter than her partner and keeps her emotions to herself. John on the other hand expresses himself but also thinks he is the smartest person in the room. Their personalities are so different it causes them to clash often.

Their relationship problems are what cause their ultimate end. In the company, they work for they have to complete missions and if they fail three missions they will get fired, or killed. They failed three missions and every time it was a result of their relationship problems. In the first failure, the couple didn’t properly communicate and accidentally killed someone. The second fail the couple couldn’t stop arguing and eventually failed their mission, and the last fatal fail was a result of John having an emotional affair.

So, This show does a great job at displaying and examining very common problems in relationships, while also maintaining the comedic and action aspects. 

The ending left the opportunity for a season two to possibly happen, so hopefully Prime Studios will renew the show for another season.
