Taylor Swift’s new album “The Tortured Poets Department” has finally been released. This album is definitely THE breakup album. She sings about her relationship with Joe Alwyan and her on and off relationship with Matty Healy. She also sings about her struggles within her industry and all of the toxic people that affected her in her path to fame.
In this album, Swift pours emotion into these songs and does not hold much back. For anyone who has ever been in a relationship and experienced heartbreak this album is one to listen to because it seems so relatable to teens all over the world and even adults. Even though there are lots of heartbreak songs on this album there is also songs I feel like should be summer hits this year such as “But Daddy I Love Him” and “I Can Do it With a Broken Heart”. The titles may be deceiving but they are fun upbeat songs that make you want to dance around and sing along.
There are also rumors going on about the album such as the song “thanK you aIMme” where the uppercase letters spell out Kim referring to Kim Kardashian and the song addresses how she made her feel terrible and how Kim posted all these mean Tweets after the incident with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in 2011. She released a song “So Long London” but on her “Lover” album she released a song “London Boy” that was about Joe and people have speculated the new song on TTPD is also about Joe. In the song she says how she loved London but now it’s time to say goodbye and how London is now ruined for her.
Even though most of these songs seem to be about her past, Swift released a song on this album called “So High School” that is supposed to be about Travis Kelce and how he gives her butterflies. Her fans are happy to see after all the pain she has been put through she is finally happy with someone else.
