On September 23, my family and I went to the Art Festival in Monte Sano Park, and it was amazing. The art festival was a time for artists to show off their art to others, along with people buying it. Everything that you would think of in art was there: poetry, paintings, glass art, handmade items and more.
I love art, and this was the first art festival I’ve ever visited. This was a new experience for me, and I was excited. When I saw all of these different variations of art, I was blown away by the creativity around me. I looked at every place that had an art sign or booth. As I was walking around I realized that these people came from all over, not just some parts of Alabama. There were people from North Carolina, Texas, Ohio and other places. I had to look everywhere before deciding what I was going to get.
I came home with five items from the festival, but my favorite was a hat. When I was walking, I saw a booth with different styles of hats. One of those hats caught my eye. Eventually, I came back to look at it fully. What makes this my favorite is the adventure theme. With the blue feathers and the empty bullet shells on each slide, it looked great. The creator of the hats helped me with the hat I was getting and suggested other hats. However, we both agreed that was the one. Her kind actions and attitude made the experience better.
The people I saw and talked to were nice and welcoming. The artist didn’t think much about selling their art, instead focused on showing and explaining their art. Everyone’s perspective on art is different, and that’s what makes it beautiful. There were art pieces made out of metal, another piece that rotated, an abstract painting of faces and animals and more creative ideas. They took pride in their work, no matter how weird or different it was.
This was a great experience and I would go again. If you, a friend, or a family member likes art, then I would recommend this.
