In 2021, a Korean Netflix series titled “Squid Games” captured the attention of viewers all around the world, with its nail-biting deadly games and unforgettable characters. The show was so popular there were Halloween costumes, skits, and two reality shows, one by Netflix and one by American YouTuber “Mr. Beast”. This all was going on while fans were excitedly waiting for the next season to come out and because of this, it put a lot of pressure on Netflix to make a season that will live up to the expectations of the viewers. Three years later, “Squid Games” season 2 came out on Netflix. 

The season opens with a scene we are all familiar with, a group of desperate people, who were lured into a mysterious game. The players, including a returning player, are pushed into a series of games that test their physical and mental limits, with death around the corner. 

The games are more complicated and even more brutal than the ones in the first season. The directors have learned from the success of the first season, adding both stuff that viewers are familiar with and new gameplay that is keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

While the games are the heart of the show, season 2 digs deeper into the characters, exploring the backstories and the relationships that develop in the game. This adds emotional depth to the story. This allows viewers to connect with the characters on a more personal level.

The series also introduces new characters that each have their personalities and reasons for joining the games. These new additions make viewers have a growing sense of uncertainty, making it difficult to predict who will survive and who will die.

However, despite the introduction of new characters and games, the series continues to have the same theme that made the first season so good. For example, social inequality, desperation, and the power of wealth. I realized while watching “Squid Game” season 2 they use the game to show the realities of a society where the rich people exploit the poor.

The conclusion of season 2 leaves viewers with a mix of disappointment and anticipation. The roller coaster of emotions and the plot twist at the end are going to leave fans eagerly waiting for a third season.  “Squid Games” season 2 lives up to the high expectations. Now we wait for season 3 to be released.
