The year has started, and some countries celebrate the new year in different months and days. This year, the Chinese New Year is coming, and there will be many traditions and amazing things.

Red envelopes when children and teens receive cash from their parents, relatives, and older people. This is known as Ya Sui Qian or Lucky Money. Typically, adults give red envelopes with money inside to children to bring good luck. 

Dragon and lion dances, performed in Chinese culture, dragons are believed to possess many valuable qualities including wisdom, power, dignity, and auspiciousness. Dragons bring good luck to the community. This dance moves in a river-like motion with dancers holding poles since the dragon is a river spirit, Lion dances are performed at times of great celebration, to bring good luck and prosperity. There are two dancers in the costumes and the dance movement has its foundation in Chinese martial arts. 

Reunion Dinner is a big part of the Chinese New Year traditionally families will prepare a fancy dinner. 

Wear Red. This is good luck so many people wear vibrant colors for the Lunar New Year. This is to scare away the monsters people displayed red everywhere and burned crackling bamboo. Red is the most popular color in China, so many people use this way to share blessings and happiness. 

The Lantern Festival starts on the 15th day of the new year and marks the end of the Lunar New Year. Children go out at night and carry paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns. The brightest lanterns symbolize good fortune and hope and were thought to close bad luck.

Posting spring couplets on the Door People write black or golden characters on the red paper. This is composed of a pair of poetry lines or blessings vertically posted on both sides of the front door and a four horizontal scroll affixed above the door frame. 

Spring Cleaning Ritual element relates to sweeping out evil spirits that might be hiding in nooks and crannies. Move furniture to clean every corner and generally make the home spotless in preparation for visitors. 

Eating special food for the Lunar Year A lot of special food on New Year’s Eve is typically chosen because their names sound similar to words meaning abundance, luck, or prosperity. 

Fireworks are used to drive away evil spirits right after midnight on New Year’s Eve this celebrates the coming of the new year as well as drives evil. It’s believed that a person who launches the first fireworks of the new year will have good luck.

Eating Glutinous rice balls for the Chinese New Year is a traditional food for the Chinese New Year, the balls are made of sticky rice flour stuffed with different fillings. This is a popular snack all over China. These are small delightfully gummy rice balls. 

There are many ways to do Chinese New Year traditions and some families do it in different ways. This is the way some families reunite with their family or friends.
