Sparkman Welcomes New Nurse

CC: Explain what made you want to become a nurse.

Katherine Collins: “ I have always had a passion for serving others, I have always been fascinated with science, so I felt like nursing was the perfect career for me.”

CC: How long did it take you to become a nurse?

KC: “ It took me a total of four years” 

CC: How long have you been a nurse?

KC: “I have been a nurse for 10 years, but I am new to nursing at a school.”

CC : Have you always wanted to be a nurse?

KC: “ I always knew I wanted to do something medical, but it took me a while to decide exactly what I wanted to do. 

CC: What do you do in your free time? 

KC:” My free time is spent shuffling my three kids between ball fields and karate lessons. I also enjoy going to Auburn football games and going to watch the Atlanta Braves play”

CC: Explain what you did to get your career as a nurse started. 

KC: “ Before I decided I wanted to be a nurse I shadowed a nurse to see what all it entailed. I also worked really hard to maintain good grades. “

CC: What are some things that you do as a school nurse

KC:” As a school nurse I get the opportunity to interact with students in a variety of ways.”

CC: Do you enjoy being a nurse? 

KC:  ” Yes. I have enjoyed every second of being a school nurse.” 

CC: What’s your favorite thing about getting to be a nurse?

KC: “ I love that I get to put my passion for service and my love of science together and hopefully make an impact on the lives of students!”
