CC: You’re a new teacher, so is this your first time teaching?

Coach Benson: No, I taught at an elementary school last year as a PE teacher and coached for Austin High School

CC: Did the team react well to you being the new coach?

Coach Benson: Some of them I already knew, I went to summer workouts and vibed with them then so we got officially introduced and they already knew what was up. 

CC: What made you switch to teaching Sparkman High School?

Coach Benson: I went to Sparkman and graduated in 2015 and I played under Coach Coggins so when I got the opportunity to coach with him I took it.

CC: What subjects do you teach?

Coach Benson: Government and US History. 

CC: What’s your favorite College Football Team?

Coach Benson: Alabama is my favorite college football team.

CC: Are there any fun facts you would like to share about yourself?

Coach Benson: I’m a sneakerhead, I love sneakers. You can ask my students. I have a new pair of shoes every day. I mainly like Jordans. 

CC: What would you say to someone who wants to become a basketball coach?

Coach Benson: Wait your turn. I started off as a volunteer coach, Studying the game. Most importantly make a connection with your athletes.
