It was a cold, dark Thursday evening and all was quiet as junior Taylor Muir pumped gas into his car. Just as he was stepping into his car, another vehicle pulled into the gas station, warranting no need for attention at the time.
All of a sudden, the previous quiet and stillness of the gas station morphed into an atmosphere of impending violence and adrenaline. A man jumped out of the car that had just arrived and only a moment later a shot was fired. The man that had been shot took off running, heading straight for Muir’s car.
“I freaked out because I saw everything … Once he was in the car he told me to drive and even put the car in drive,” Muir said.
Muir refused to serve as the man’s accomplice in his escape, and firmly told the man to leave his car while he proceeded to put the vehicle back into park. Right after the man stepped out of Muir’s car, the police arrived at the gas station. After the unexpected ordeal Muir remained in a temporary state of shock and disbelief. Although he was not physically harmed, that fateful Thursday night is one he is not likely to soon forget.
“I feel relieved that he [the man] is now ok,” Muir said.
