Mall sells for $5 million, claiming famous stores names

April showers bring May flowers — or in this case, a sold mall building.

Open since 1984 the Madison Square Mall has been encompassing numerous stores including the everlasting JC Penny, Sears and Dillards as well as smaller, more recent shops such as Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle and Journey. But as of April 29, the fate of the numerous establishments that have made Madison Square their home become unknown. For $5 million the mall complex left the hands of CBL and Associates Properties and was relinquished into the hands of another.

Backtrack several weeks before the mall had sold and shoppers had begun taking notice of the big brown boxes popping up in the stores. Many shops, preparing for an incoming storm, have begun packing up their wares and closing their doors. Fast forward back into the present and it seems that many were right to get a head start. The mall remains open but one crucial question still remains: what will happen to Madison Square Mall?
