Dance Team Heads to Nationals

January 24, 2017

Weeks ago, the dance team competed in the state competition where they won top awards and a bid for national competition in March. The team competed against teams from all over the state, including Spain Park and Thompson.

“We got first in Pom, hip-hop and a choreography award for Pom,” sophomore Karley Boddie said.

As the team continues to compete, they are bringing in more awards. In their first competition, a regional date, the team won first place for all three of their competition dances. They credit hard work and numerous hours of practice for their collection of trophies.

“We practice everyday during third block, we practice after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We do drills, tricks and stunts to make sure that we hit them perfectly at our competitions,” senior Kaleigha Boddie said.

Coach Katherine Neis is pleased with the work her team is doing and is looking forward to bringing home some awards from national competition.

“We are going to Nationals in Orlando, Florida  and we cannot wait,” Neis said.
