Hat Day Fundraiser

March 2, 2017

This Friday, the Key Club will hold a Hat Day, so that students can express their likings and show off their stylish feats to their friends and student body. Although there will be a small fee to wear a hat to school, it will be worth the charge.

“The one dollar donation buys a wristband that will allow students to wear a hat on Friday,” sponsor Jessica Graves said. “ Students that do not want to wear a hat could still donate one dollar and wear their wristband to show they supported the cause.”

Like any donation, the money has to go to a certain cause. Graves chose to donate to a regional hospital.

“All proceeds will go to the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham at the University of Alabama Birmingham,” Graves said. “It was also ranked eighth in the country for children’s specialities.”

There will be restrictions on what hats students can wear, but the rules won’t be very strict.

So nothing explicit or anything that could be determined as offensive.

“Hats should not have any profane language, or drug or alcohol references,” Graves said. “Anyone who breaks the dress code will be asked to remove their hat and possibly be punished.”
