Media Center Makes Changes To Appeal To Students

Numerous modifications have been put into action this school year, but one unexpected area just got a revamp. Not only did the media center obtain a new librarian, but it also received long-awaited new furniture.

With much reconfiguration, media specialist Philomena Compton was able to re-organize and divide the media center into three sections; the check-out area, the collaboration area, and the instructional classroom area. The check-out area includes six circle tables. The collaboration area includes seven pinwheel tables that have whiteboards as their tops. Lastly, the instructional classroom area is equipped with a Cleartouch Panel as well as seven large soapstone square tables.

“The vision I have for the design of the media center space is to be modern and inviting,” Compton said. “The new furniture is such a special addition to that vision.”

The students are happy about the new update as well.

“The library has new amazing equipment to help students who need it,” junior April Johnson said.

Each and every chair, as well as table, is equipped with a caster, allowing the media center to be revised in a matter of minutes. Bistro tables align the windows, another spot for reading or completing assignments whilst enjoying the view outside.

“We are all finally able to embrace and enjoy all the possibilities that are attainable with the incorporation of our new and exciting furniture,” Compton said.
