War Still Rages in Isreal

It’s been over a year since the war between Israel and Hamas. Several countries and terrorist organizations are involved including Israel, the United States, the European Union, Iran, and Qatar.

The war between Israel and Hamas has raged since October 7, 2023, and has resulted in the death of over 41,802 Palestinians and 1,706 Israelis. Additionally, more than 240 people were held hostage during the attack, and 101 continue to be held to this day. Many people within Israel and Gaza have moved to other countries.  100,000 Israelis and 2.9 million Palestinians moved throughout Gaza or into neighboring countries whenever possible. Most Palestinians moved to Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, and Israelis moved to the Middle East and Europe.

This was originally started in 1948. The state of Israel was created on land inhabited by both Jews and Arabs. The hostilities began when Iraq sent its troops to participate in the 1948 Arab- Israeli war, between the two communities that year led to a mass displacement of Palestinians. So the status of the Palestinians remains unresolved as the Arab-Israeli conflict brought recurrent violence. The fate of the Gaza Strip fell into the hands of Israel when it occupied the territory in the six-day war of 1967. The major conflicts between Israel and Hamas included Israel air strikes, a ground invasion that took place at the end of 2008, and the most significant military engagement in the region since the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

Because of that  Hamas led an attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, which involved a racket barrage, and sea and air assaults that led to a war. Hamas’s attack was a response to the Israel occupation, and blockade of the Gaza Strip. Some Foreign nationals were killed including civilians. ‘Hamas said its attack was in response to Israel’s continued violation of international law, as well as alleged threat to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the general plight of Palestinians.’ After clearing militants from its territory Israel launched one of the most destructive bombing campaigns in modern history. The attack took place during the Jewish holidays of Simchat Torah and Shemini Atzeret on Shabbat, one day after the 50th anniversary of the start of the Yom Kippur War. There are around 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel within 20 minutes. October 27 with the stated objectives of destroying Hamas and freeing hostages.

Iran and Hezbollah join the attack postponing it for a year to secure their involvement either in the strike or a broader conflict. However, it decided to proceed without their full participation aiming to attack before Israel could implement an advanced air defense.

By early 2024, Israeli forces have damaged half of Gaza’s houses, buildings, hospitals, schools, and Universities.

Concern about a spreading war will impact a lot of things in the world like the price of gas will go up because the ships will go another way so they won’t be involved in the war. It also takes them more days before it arrives at their destination.
