Students welcome new administration

Students, parents and staff familiarize themselves on Senator Day.

Despite the struggles the new school year has presented, the new administrators have taken the reigns from the start.

Principal Chris Shaw officially started on July 1, just 27 days before teachers arrived. His first order of business was to replace three administrators who left over the summer, six teachers, a counselor and two nurses. Along with these hires, Shaw had to move his family to the area and get to know office and central office staff.

Yes, the schedule process has been hectic but we should remember that the new administration was left to pick up the pieces. We applaud them for how they have handled the schedule issue by creating stability amongst the chaos.

In the first week, administrators have addressed the areas with extreme issues. Break was expunged. According to Shaw, these 20 minutes can lead to distractions and discipline issues and there just is not enough personnel to supervise. Shaw realized the extra time from break could be added to lunch, giving students more time to finish their lunch. Even though some students are disappointed, we should understand the reason behind and change and commend Shaw for looking out for our safety.

All we can do is wish the new administrators and faculty as a whole good luck and show our support through everything they have planned.
