We all need homework but do we need so much?

It is said that too much homework is given, which I agree to be true. We have four classes, an eight hour school day and we are also expected to have a social life while getting eight or more hours of sleep at night.

Most students do not get home until 4 p.m. For students that have practice or other clubs that turns into 6 p.m. Being expected to come home and eat dinner by 7:30 p.m. leaves only three hours for students to do their homework, talk to friends and be expected to help with other things around the house. Being in bed by 10:30 p.m. in order to wake up at 6:30 a.m. while still getting an eight hour rest, requires a lesser load of homework.

Having to do homework would not be too difficult if the teachers did not assign at least an hour each of homework or projects along with an hour of studying each night.

Too much homework can also lead to stress, depression and other mental disorders. Fifty-six percent of the students in a dailymail.com study cited homework as a primary stressor in their lives.

With all being said, it would be great if teachers could take into consideration how much students do on a daily basis. It would help if the homework load could be cut. Students would more than likely turn their homework in on time because; they would have more time to focus on it.

In the end, student lives and grades would become a lot better.
