It is not everyday that one will see elementary kids getting down to modern music in P.E. class.

Harvest Elementary physical education teacher Jared Paschall choreographed an aerobic dance to “Watch Me” by Silento` as a fun way to get the kids to exercise.

The exercise included jumping jacks, push ups and other fun moves. There could not have been a better idea to get kids ready and pumped to exercise. As long as the song is school appropriate, it should not be an issue to play our modern music in the classroom . It has been observed that children get more involved when a popular song is playing.

Paschall has proved that modern music can be useful in an education setting. It can help students learn literary terms, math formulas or the 50 states.

So, SHS teachers take note from Paschall and put our modern music to use in the classroom. Parodies of a popular song can be used as a guide to study for exams or the ACTs. Grades can possibly be brought up if students can enjoy what they are learning.
