UAH college fair snags student interests
More stories from Zane White
It can be frightening at first, the realization that students futures and careers are close to becoming reality. That is what everyone at the University of Alabama in Huntsville hoped to help the students do. The little booths and what the people behind them have to say could very well change the life of any student who became interested enough to walk up.
Many colleges and businesses showed up on Sept. 3 and dedicated themselves to grab our attention whether it be through candy, pens, gifts or many other things that were given out. Once they had us hooked with the gifts they taught the students about what they stand for and what they do. From dexterity tests to West Point, there were plenty of career paths and universities to learn about.
However, some booths did better at drawing attention than others. It seems that the flashier or more rewarding a booth was, the more students came to either receive gifts or learn. It is implied that before one snags a gift one must make polite conversation first. This is how they help those who may not be as interested about the future. Such students were steered toward a path in life of hard work but also high reward.
Overall the convention was a great way for each University or organization to promote themselves and help visitors to decide what they would like to do with their lives. No matter what objects you claim, the convention was the greatest gift of all.
