Chief Justice Roy Moore seeks to ban same-sex marriage

How can one explain Roy Moore’s latest foray into the issue of same sex marriage in Alabama and America?
Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore issued an order directing Alabama probate judges to not issue any marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Public officials whose egos prevent them from performing the duties of their office should resign. That applies to Moore, and it applies to any probate judges who find themselves incapable of acknowledging the authority of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Constitution. The Judicial Inquiry Commission removed Moore from the office of chief justice 13 years ago when he refused to comply with a federal court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building. Before Moore causes more damage to the state and its judicial system, the commission should once again boot him from office.
We need to ensure that marriage equality is guaranteed and enforced nationwide. And we need to fight discrimination against LGBT Americans wherever it occurs. There are places where one can get married on Sunday and are at risk of being fired from their job or evicted from their home on Monday because they are gay. That’s not how it should be in the United States of America.
Mr. Moore has a right to his personal beliefs, not the right to order judges
