Silent School
April 11, 2017
A simply-solved yet recurring problem seems to be constantly be facing Sparkman. No one talks to each other. This is not to say that it is completely silent in the halls, there is plenty of talking there, but it seems the type of communication most crucial is not happening. Information regarding activities and school going-ons are not taking place. The administration is not telling the students what they want to know and to further the problem, most students just will not ask. People should be told the relevant information to begin with, and if that is not provided, then students need to step up and find out what they need to know themselves.
Our senior class has had numerous instances where they were not told something that they deemed to be important. The administration simply failed to provide information to begin with. For example, nobody knew we were getting sashes for graduation and many people were worried about this loss of tradition. However, their worrying was for not considering that we were indeed going to get them, but no one had actually passed on this information until it was requested. It would not be the first time that our admins failed to pass on information, teachers are often in the dark just about as much as the students are.
When asking a teacher about upcoming events for the school, I was told that they had no idea what was going on either. Communication is key for any school if they wish for anything to run efficiently. If no one knows anything then nothing gets done. It also creates a general discontent between those in charge and everyone following them. Getting last minute notifications or directions is never appreciated. It would not be that big of an issue if it was not such a simple problem to solve. Just say something! It is not that difficult to do.
