The girls and boys basketball teams will host the area tournament after being declared the regular season winners of 7A , Area 8.

The girls finished the season undefeated in area play. The boys finished 5-1, falling to Bob Jones in December only to defeat them by 12 last week. Bob Jones fell to Buckhorn on Monday night to finish second in the area.

“It’s always nice to host the area tournament. You get to have a home field advantage,” boys coach Jamie Coggins said.

The area tournament will be played Feb. 7-10 for girls and Feb. 9-11 for boys. The boys will face James Clemens, who finished last in the area, in the first round. The girls’ opponent will be announced after a three-way coin toss to determine the second, third and fourth seed.
