Basketball Kicks Off First Week Against Madison City School Teams
The varsity basketball season kicked off last week with the girls defeating James Clemens and Bob Jones and the boys varsity falling to James Clemens, but beating Bob Jones.
In a hot and humid gym, the boys varsity team went neck and neck with the Jets, losing a close one 49-46. Senior Karmelo Montgomery led the team with 12 points and four rebounds. The girls defeated the Jets, 84-37.
The teams traveled to Bob Jones on Nov. 11. Led by senior Will Hawkins, the team bounced back with a 56-42 win. The girls won in overtime, 72-71.
Both teams face James Clemens on Friday, Nov. 18 before moving into the Thanksgiving holiday tournaments.
