10 Things To Do Over Fall Break

The week of Oct.1-4, we have our first break of the year, Fall break. With a week of nice weather and fun opportunities, here is a list of 10 things to do.

  1. Take a Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch is a fun activity that helps you get in the fall mood. Tate Farms is a great option for pumpkin picking, delicious treats and fun for the entire family. Pick out your favorite pumpkin and enjoy a cold pumpkin slush while you relax on a hayride.

  1. Watch a Halloween Movie

Scary movies are a fall classic. Turn off the lights, get cozy under a blanket and watch a Halloween classic. Halloween Town, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Casper and Beetlejuice are just a few movies that I recommend.

  1. Go to a Haunted Attraction

In the mood to get scared? Gather some friends and head over to Doomsday for some scary fun. Experience the fictional story of a chemical spill as you go through multiple attractions. Go through a corn maze, watch a show with a bonfire or play paintball.

  1. Carve Pumpkins

If you need an idea of what to do with that pumpkin you got at the pumpkin patch, carving it is a good option. Pick up some tools from the store and head outside to carve your pumpkin. You can make fun designs of your favorite characters or a classic jack-o-lantern face.

  1. Go to a Farmers Market

While supporting local farmers and businesses is great year-round, visiting them during the fall is even more enjoyable. S&J Produce Farms is open year-round and produces fresh produce and products weekly. Visit during the fall and enjoy frozen cider and juices while shopping for homemade goat milk lotions and creams.

  1. Take a Hike

The Huntsville and Harvest area is full of amazing hiking trails. Pack your hiking gear and head to Monte Sano Mountain for a relaxing hike. The fall weather mixed with the waterfalls makes for an enjoyable hike full of sightseeing.

  1. Go Apple Picking

If apple picking is something you have never done before, I recommend you try this fall season. Apple orchards have lots of fun activities for everyone. Scott’s Orchard is a family-owned business with 18 different varieties of apples and 21 varieties of peaches. Enjoy fresh apple cider or games and inflatables.

  1. Create Your Own Halloween Costume

With Halloween approaching, it is the perfect time to go shopping for your costume. While Halloween stores, like Spirit Halloween, are fun and have large varieties of costumes, they can get pricey. Instead of spending a lot on mass-produced costumes, try finding items at thrift stores or second-hand stores.

  1. Throw a Costume Party

If you need a party to wear your homemade costume to, throw your own! Invite some friends over and throw a Halloween party. Make some snacks and add your favorite seasonal songs as you enter the Halloween spirit.

  1. Try Fall Recipies

This season is perfect for you if you like to bake or cook. Take out your cinnamon and fall-scented candles and pull out your favorite fall recipes. Make some cinnamon rolls or your favorite soup and turn on one of the fall classic movies.
