Principal Mike Campbell addressed over 500 seniors before they took their last walk as Senators last night at the Von Braun Center.

“Thanks for allowing me to be your principal,” Campbell said. “Over $14 million in scholarships were awarded to this special class.

The ceremony also included a self-composed song by senior Victoria Jones titled “White Butterfly.”

“The song was written during a hard time for me. A time where a white butterfly kept reminding me that my day would come,” Jones said.

Jones was also awarded the coveted John Sparkman Award which is voted on by the faculty.

English teacher Evan Carter gave the faculty address, encouraging the seniors to make their life.

“Learn something everyday if not you might as well be dead,” Carter said.

The ceremony ended with the Class of 2014 throwing their hats into the air for the first time in recent school history.

“It was a cool sight to see them throw the caps,” Campbell said.
