Whether reading the book, comic, or watching the show, the trilogy “The Strain” has recently become very popular among many readers after its debut appearance as the new television series on FX this past year.

Originally written as a television show, after a long period without the storyline being picked up, creators Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro decided to publish the series as a book. The three part novel series became a hit and later became the television show it is today.

The book, comic and show are centered on the concept of an outbreak of a vampire-like “disease” in the state of New York and the struggle of a select few trying to destroy it — as well as the mastermind behind its spread — while trying to survive and remain unaffected.

The chilling series is a great read for fans of science-fiction, horror and mystery alike, with the comic providing vivid visuals to the terrifying tale. The show makes minor changes to the storyline to provide a different take for those who may have read the book and to prevent spoiler alerts. Whether reading or watching, one gets a different view.

In all, with descriptive details, gory scenes, constant changes and surprises, the books, comics and television show alike always manage to maintain the attention of the subject, for the sole purpose of wanting more.
