Seniors earn record amount of scholarships
May 12, 2015
On May 11, college and career counselor Dr. Sharon Clanton hosted the annual Senior Awards Banquet.
The event was started to honor scholarship recipients and the accomplishments of graduating seniors.
“After all these years of working hard, it felt good to be honored for my accomplishments,” future Ole Miss student Will Bartel said.
Clanton invited representatives from educational institutions and private organizations to present scholarships to the recipients.
“We had [people come from as far away as Mobile to present to our scholars. It was a testament to their investment in students that they were willing to travel so far for this ceremony,” UAH commit Eric Beshears said.
The senior class brought in a school record of $14 million in scholarships this year. Clanton, the self-proclaimed “Chairman of our Fan Club,” hopes to keep pushing that number higher with each year to ensure that students are ready to traverse the college landscape without worrying too much about finances.
“It was good to see the class of 2015 bring in a record amount of scholarships,” Beshears said.
