Soccer players meet idol, gain inspiration

Finely Stadium has gained importance among women soccer players.
Wednesday, August 19 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the U.S Woman’s National Team vs. Costa Rica match took place. The U.S Woman’s National Soccer team participated in an unprecedented event making history. The team has been one of the most successful in international women’s soccer, winning three Women’s World Cup titles. Sophomore Regina Mpagi and senior Kim Manley share the same love for the sport and have the same meaning in heart while attending two different events.
“The game was a life changing experience. When you get to meet your idols all in one night it is so surreal. I felt like I was dreaming.” Mpagi said.
Mpagi is a sophomore who in her free time passes around the ball with her team the Huntsville Futbol Club. Mpagi got to meet and get pictures with the outstanding teammates, including her favorite member Carly Lloyd.
“I went with my dad and my brother; we sat in the bleachers until it rained.” Mpagi said. “I cannot wait till I get another chance like this.”
Other lovers of the sport were lucky by getting tickets on September twentieth in Birmingham, Alabama to watch their favorite team, take on Australia. Senior Kim Manly talked about what she is ready for—when she gets her experience to meet the winning team.
“I love going to soccer games. I love it. It is the time of my life.” Manly said. “I go to multiple and cannot wait to see Morgan Bryan, she is like my idol.”
