Recently, local elementary schools Endeavor Elementary and Harvest Elementary took part in a community canned food drive in order to collect for Crosswinds United Methodist Church’s food pantry. Together, both schools raised a total of 338 cans. Of the 338 cans, Harvest collected a total of 127 food items, and Endeavor raised a total of 211.

In order to encourage students to donate cans at Endeavor, a contest was held between the classes. The food drive went on for two weeks. The winner of the contest was fourth grade teacher Lori McCoy’s class. The class collected 56 cans out of 211. McCoy was followed up by second grade teacher Bailey Brooks, whose class raised a total of 35 cans. After Brooks, second grade teacher Christina Turner and third grade teacher Tim Gels classes both collected 24 cans each.
