Q&A with senior, youngest realtor in Alabama
More stories from Victoria Lewis
Crimson Crier: Who got you into realty?
Senior Dehja Stewart: My mom does real-estate and has her own company. My grandmother also did
it when she was younger. My mom has been doing real-estate for about 4 years now.
CC: What process do you have to go through to become a realtor?
Stewart: Right now I am working and learning under my mom. I’ll be done with [realtor] school in
March. Keller Williams has their own classes. They teach you and get you ready to get your license.
CC: How long does this process take?
Stewart: It is going to take me three months to finish because I am in school, but you can really be
done with the class in about a month.
CC: How do your friends and family support your decision?
Stewart: My family is really proud of me for starting [my career] this early. My friends think it’s the
coolest thing ever.
CC: What are you looking forward to the most?
Stewart: Selling my first house because I’ve witnessed my mom selling a bunch of houses and the
expressions people get when they see their new home.
CC: How does it feel to be the youngest realtor in Alabama?
Stewart: I’ve learned that people are not going to take me as seriously if I express my age, so I won’t
let that be known. But I think it’s a big accomplishment for any 18 year old.
