Over fall break, the dance team traveled to Nashville for the regional competition with the Universal Dance Association. They competed with three different routines categorized in different styles including jazz, pom and hip hop.

All three routines were choreographed and prepared by Sparkman alumnus Hannah Grace Jackson. Jackson was chosen to choreograph the team because of her massive amount of background knowledge in dance.
Though she has never danced nor choreographed for a school dance team before, Jackson danced and competed at a local studio for 16 years. Throughout her dance career, she was awarded scholarships and toured as a prodigy with choreographers of famous artists including Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. She has now been teaching and choreographing for studios and dancers for approximately three years.

“It is really great to expand my dance background to dance teams along with studios and to see choreography of mine be performed by students from Sparkman,” Jackson said.

At the Universal Dance Association competition, the team competed against numerous teams from all over the Southeast region. The team succeeded placing fourth in pom, second in hip hop and first in jazz, all of which were placed in the small varsity group division.
