Volleyball Gain Wins In First Few Games

Last month, this year’s volleyball season kicked off with the Lady Senators walking back into the court, ready to compete once again. The first game against Cullman on Aug. 24 marked the beginning of a successful season, scoring a 2-1 win here at Sparkman High, along with a 2-0 win against Florence the same day. The season’s third win and in a row would later come from all the way in Cordova, TN that Saturday, with a victorious 2-0 win against St. Benedict at Auburndale.

The streak was unfortunately broken a week later on Aug. 26, as Sparkman was defeated by both Lipscomb Academy, a 1-2 game, and Hazel Green with a 0-2. Though on Aug. 28, the ladies would score another win at home against New Hope with a 2-0 victory. At the same time, another loss occurred against Hazel Green the same day, and another on Sept. 1 against James Clemons.

Three games occurred on Sep. 2, bringing in three losses against Plainview and Hazel Green, later against Buckhorn Sept. 5. However on Sept. 7, the Senators won another game at home against Grissom with a 3-2 score. Overall, the Senators volleyball team is at five wins and eight losses.

The next game will occur at home on Tuesday, Sept. 12, with the Senators going up against Madison County.
